Shashti Poorti or Shashtiabdha Poorthi, is celebrated on completion of 60 years of age. It's the marriage ceremony performed for the elder couple where the husband completes 60 years of age. The 60th birthday marks a key turning point in one's life and serves as a heartwarming reminder of the rich, relaxed life that will follow. This 60th birthday Pooja is typically organised by one's children or in-laws, younger siblings, or family members. With Shashti Poorthi Puja the couple receives the Lord's blessings for longevity and  continue their Spiritual life. 

An important aspect of Shashti Poorti is that all the planets in the zodiac come to the same positions or occupy the same houses of zodiac as the actual date of birth of the individual. These planets take the same position as they were on the date of birth of the individual after 60 years. Hence the Puja rituals is performed on the same lunar day when the moon conjoins the birth star of the individual on the same month and the same year in which one was born.
