Pitru Paksha Puja

It is an occasion to pay respects to our ancestors. Pitru Paksha or Mahalaya paksha is a 15 lunar days period wherein our pitrus are allowed to come to earth and Eldermost son performs the shradh and other members participate in the ceremony and brahman bhojan is given to get the blessings from our pitrus. It is the season to pay an ode to those deceased relatives and our forefathers. It is believed Shradh rites help liberate our souls from the circle of life and death.
