Vamana Janma Puja
Vamana Janma, or Vamana Jayanti, is among Hindu culture’s most popular and promising Pujas. It is celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Vishnu. The Vamana Jayanti festivities usually start on the twelfth day of Bhadrapada month. As per the Hindu calendar, it is performed at the auspicious time of Shukla Paksha. According to the Gregorian calendar, Vamana Janma Puja falls annually between August and September.
It is believed that during this time, Lord Vishnu incarnated on Earth as the son of sage Kashyapa and his wife Aditi. Hence, his birth into the new family led him to earn the name of Vamana. If you believe the Hindu scriptures, you should pray to Lord Vamana to be free from your sins and achieve salvation.

Vamana, the son of sage Kashyapa and Aditi, was born on Earth to restore peace during the era of King Maha Bali. Maha Bali was the King of Asuras who was a huge threat to the Gods. Lord Indra visited Lord Vishnu and asked for help to prevent the yagna Maha Bali from becoming the ultimate ruler of the universe.
To prevent the Yagna, Lord Vishnu took his 5th incarnation, where he became known as Vamana, a dwarf Brahmin. The dwarf Brahmin then visited Maha Bali and asked for Bhiksha. Bhiksha, the dwarf Brahmin, asked for three pieces of land, and the King agreed to give him that. Upon receiving the land, the Brahmin grew huge and covered heaven and Earth with his two feet. There was no place left to place his next step. This made the King realise that the Brahmin was none other than Lord Vishnu, and then, he offered his head to place the next step. This way, King Mahabali was defeated and then sent to Patal Loka.
