Preparation Before The Satyanarayan Puja
- On this day, all family members should wake up early, get bathed & wear fresh clothes.
- Devotees have to observe fast until the Puja gets complete.

- First, one must purify themselves (Acamanah), practice Pranayama, and most importantly, make a Sankalp (i.e., taking wow to complete the ritual).
- In this step, the devotee must perform Kalash Puja (an invitation offered to the Lord in the form of Kalash for worship).
- The next step includes performing Ganesh Puja or Homam to appease Lord Ganesha because no Puja is complete without Ganesh Puja.
- In this step, lamps are lighted by devotees & respect is paid to Mother Earth.
- After lighting lamps, various other Pujas are performed, like Tulsi Puja, Navagraha Puja, Digpalika Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Indradi Ashtadikpala Puja & Panchamritha Abhishekam, along with reciting several Shlokas.
- In this step, Sri Satyanarayan Katha is narrated during the Puja, which depicts all five stories showing how people have benefited from performing the Puja over the years with proper devotion and clean hearts to all the devotees who have participated.
- Once the Katha is completed, Aarti is performed.
